Children and young people who offend are among the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our society.

Yet despite their high level of need, children in custody are all too often overlooked or let down by health and social care services.

Incarceration provides an opportunity for doctors to address the unmet needs of children and young people- but more can be done before this point - see the new report published by the BMA this week:
